The design

Southwest Detroit is the stretch of the city that kept its people. While other neighborhoods thinned out across the second half of the last century, Southwest held – anchored by a Mexican-American community that built Vernor Highway into one of the best eating streets in the Midwest, with the Ambassador Bridge sitting over the whole thing. This design is for people from there, and for people who drive in on purpose.

Questions about this hoodie

How warm is it? It is a midweight fleece pullover – warm enough as an outer layer through fall and spring in Michigan, and a good layer under a jacket in January. The brushed interior holds heat without the bulk of a heavyweight hoodie, so it still fits under a coat.

What is the difference between this and the sweatshirt? This one has a hood and a front pouch pocket. The Southwest Detroit Sweatshirt is the same artwork on a crewneck – no hood, no pocket, slightly lighter, and five dollars less.

Does it shrink? Minimally, if you wash it right. Wash cold, tumble dry low or hang dry, and you will not see meaningful shrinkage. High heat in the dryer is what tightens a cotton-blend fleece and shortens the body – avoid it and the fit stays where it started.
