Description

Techno Detroit is a techno music shirt built around hand-drawn flame lettering, printed in Detroit on a unisex cotton tee. Four dark colorways, sizes S through 6XL.

The design

Flame type is a borrowed language – hot rods, metal records, airbrushed van murals – and it turns out to fit a city that has been rebuilding itself on its own terms for decades. Set against Black, Navy, Royal or Dark Heather, the lettering reads from the far side of a dark room, which is roughly the design brief for anything you’d wear to a warehouse party.

Questions about this shirt

Does the flame print show up on dark shirts? Yes. We print on dark garments with a white underbase, which is what keeps the flame colors bright instead of muddy on Black and Navy. The lettering holds its edge and contrast on all four colorways rather than sinking into the fabric.

What is the difference between this and the Genuine Techno Tee? Different artwork and different mood. Techno Detroit is the flame-lettering design in four dark colorways. The Genuine Techno Tee is a typographic statement piece and comes in seven colors, including brights like Electric Green and Heliconia.
